After losing a seemingly important toss and being asked to bat Tilford made steady and determined progress despite rain interruptions. Several Tilford batsmen made a start but it was Chris Thomas’s well crafted 50 which enabled a competitive score of 161 off 43 overs to be posted. With Sammy, Shinwari and Khan all bowling well, Sammy taking 4 for 13 off 9 overs.

Due to the rain interruptions Dogmersfield were given the apparently easy task of scoring 117 off 31 overs to win. However Dogmersfield got off to the worst possible start with Beaver ripping through the top order taking 3 wickets in his first two overs. At 19-4 after 4 overs Tilford were in the box seat. A fifth wicket stand of 38 took the score to 57 and put Dogmersfield back in the game and they, in typical fashion, constantly took the attack to the bowlers. The introduction of Jack Cantwell then turned the game firmly in Tilford’s favour, taking two wickets in his first over and finishing with excellent figures of 4 for 10 off 4 overs. Shinwari threatened to take the game to the wire before being caught by M Cantwell off Scott to leave Dogmersfield all out for 98.

Another super win, with Tilford being up against it due to the rain interruptions, but we held our catches and kept our heads despite being put under pressure by very attacking batting. Great to see such fight against the Dogs.
