Puttenham won the toss and chose to bat on a typically green, early-season wicket. A minute's silence was held for Chris Debenham and Rich Greensmith, who both sadly passed away over the winter.

Dan Wrenn and Jason Stones bowled a very tidy opening spell for the visitors, removing both openers without scoring, and claiming 3 wickets between them. S Hussain was the only Puttenham batsman to offer any real resistance, and despite offering a couple of chances, the left hander was eventually put out of his misery for a streaky 23, the "top score of the day". Everyone thought this was particularly impressive for a man who "hadn't picked up a bat for over a year". Nigel Martyn (5-12) and George Ellis (2-9) finished off the innings with some precision bowling, bowling Puttenham out for 66.

What should have been a simple chase was made particularly tricky by some fantastic bowling from S Ahmed (3-16). The innings was steadied by Matt Swarbrick (21*) and Matt Cook (15*), who saw the visitors home 5 wickets down, with both teams claiming 2 bonus points.
