1st XI Elstead

Tilford recorded their fourth win in the 2022 Iā€™Anson Division 1 against Elstead at the Green by 5 wickets. The home side won the toss and put Elstead into bat first and they were soon in trouble with the first four wickets down for just 16 runs with Huw Town-Jones and Jason Stones (2-9 in 7 overs) taking two apiece in the first 11 eleven overs. Father and son Keith and Scott Tilson then came together and cautiously added 37 before Dan Wrenn (3-32) had Tilson junior caught behind for 25 and claimed another wicket in the same over. Wrenn then removed Tilson senior to leave the visitors on 59-7 after 34 overs. Some late order resistance came particularly from Drew Byrd who top scored with 31 with two sixes but Elstead were all out for 122 in their final over.

When Tilford batted they lost their openers with 28 on the board and in their pursuit of quick runs lost three wickets for 8, including George Ellis for 25, as they stumbled to 74-5 with Bruce Forbes and Paddy Murphy (2-13 off 9 overs) putting on the brakes. But Matt Cook (29) joined Henry Marks (21) and together they put on a chanceless unbroken 50 partnership to see Tilford home on 124-5 in the 36th over. The win puts Tilford on level points at the top of the table with Grayswood, the two teams meet at the end of June.
